20th Birthday Celebrations

I've been so busy the last couple of weeks with my birthday, my Mum's birthday, finishing my second year of university and making my way through a pile of assignments, that I haven't been able to blog for a while. However, as I have now finished most of my coursework (I only have 1 essay left to do, woohoo!) I thought I'd do a quick post on how I celebrated my 20th birthday.

I kind of had a 'birthday week' as I celebrated a few days early with my flat mates in Sheffield. We ordered Domino's and they bought me a Lush gift set and the MAC lip liner in Whirl which I have been searching for for ages. Then the night before my 20th, I went for cocktails with three of my childhood friends. We've known each other for more than half of our lives and spend most of our birthdays together so it was great to catch up. I'd been thinking about how I wanted to celebrate on my actual birthday for a while because last year I wasted half of my day deciding what to do. Since one of my all-time favourite films is Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, which is set in Eastbourne/Brighton, I had my heart set on visiting and seeing it in real life.

So, my parents and I travelled to Eastbourne on my birthday (Saturday 18th April) and spent the day wandering along the pier and, being the film fanatic that I am, trying to find recognisable locations from the film. Luckily the weather was quite nice, it was very windy but the sun was shining and it didn't rain which is rare for England during April. We went to Brighton on the Sunday and walked along the pier and explored The Lanes. It's such an interesting town and there's always something going on, I could definitely imagine myself living there.

I would have loved to have more time in both places but I'm grateful that I was able to visit Eastbourne and Brighton and spend my birthday doing something memorable. I've got to the age now where I don't really look forward to birthdays and they don't seem exciting any more but this weekend away definitely took my mind off no longer being a teenager (booooo) and I can't wait to go back again one day.
